Hyundai’s Sales Back up Marketing Venture

Hyundai has implemented a “big voices in big places” advertising strategy. In order to back this new strategy Hyundai spent an extremely high amount of money in their recent advertising ventures. Fortunately for them, it seems to be working just as they had hoped.

Hyundai was a large sponsor of this year’s Grammy Awards, aired two commercials during the Super Bowl in February, and ran nine spots during the Academy Awards last month. Many auto manufacturers weren’t even willing to put up the money for one Super Bowl TV ad spot.

Hyundai’s advertising budget is roughly half-a-billion dollars, so in the grand scheme of things, advertising in the big events isn’t setting them back too far. In February Hyundai’s sales increased 12.8% and grew their market share from 4.4% to 4.5%.

Hyundai is looking to establish their selves as large brand, thus targeting audiences through these large media events makes them appear to be a large brand. Hyundai has had an extreme influx of traffic to their consumer websites, especially after those large promotional events.

The Elantra was promoted during the Academy Awards and sales grew 51.6% in February. Sales of the Accent subcompact car rose 23.8% in the month. Those are just two of the increases that Hyundai has seen since their new marketing efforts have been set into action.

It’s obvious to see Hyundai’s strategy has recently been successful, but how long can the sales increase? The highly viewed programs are started to spread out through the rest of the year, it will be interesting to see what is going to happen to Hyundai’s sales in the next year.

SuperBowl Commercials Cost BIG Car Companies BIG Money

Commercial spots for the 2012 SuperBowl sold out around Thanksgiving, and auto companies are leading the list of this year’s buyers.

It’s that time of year again, holiday decorations are being put back into storage and New Year’s resolutions have been set. College Football Bowl games are wrapping up and the NFL playoffs are set to begin…which can only mean one thing…..SuperBowl commercials are only a couple of weeks away.

Companies large and small are putting the final touches on their SuperBowl commercials that run a cool $3.5 million for 30 seconds of ad space. NBC has stated that the ad space for commercials during the 2012 SuperBowl sold out around Thanksgiving.

As usual there are a wide variety of companies showing their stuff during the game, but the auto industry has bought up more time and space in the 2012 SuperBowl than any other industry. Major auto companies that will be airing commercials during the 2012 SuperBowl include; Volkswagen, Kia, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Toyota, and Hyundai.

Volkswagen will try to repeat the success of their award winning “Force” commercial from the 2011 SuperBowl. According to Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer at Volkswagen, they have purchased a 60-second spot in the 3rd quarter for a commercial that will feature the 2012 Beetle.

GM is also going to be making a big splash in the 2012 SuperBowl, the company has purchased 5 spots for ads. They will be running 1 Cadillac ad and 4 Chevy ads, and have talked with other SuperBowl advertisers to get product placement in their commercials. Additionally, Chevrolet has been running a contest where internet users can vote for 1 ad that will air during the 2012 SuperBowl with their route66 campaign.

Auto companies know how to market their product and there is no bigger marketing stage than the SuperBowl. Car companies are preparing funny, happy, and emotional commercials to make you fall in love with their car brands.

The Accent Gets Top Pick for Back-To-School Travel

It’s getting to be that of year again, back-to-school season. For some parents it’s a whole new adventure, sending their kids off to college. Along with the decisions of which meal plan to purchase or what color scheme for the new dorm room, a vehicle choice can weight heavy on some. Kelley Blue Book has taken some of the guess work out of this for parents. They have compiled a list of the top ten back-to-school cars; the Accent comes out on top.

For this year, Kelley Blue Book chose 5 new cars, and 5 used cars to make up the top 10. The Hyundai Accent took the number one spot in the new car category, beating out its competitors the Honda Fit, Ford Focus, Fiat 500 and Chevrolet Cruze.

Like other Hyundais, the Accent appeals to a finely-tuned sense of value, with a lot of features into a stylish and roomy cabin. The 138-horsepower engine gives an estimated 30 mpg in the city and 40 on the highway, and makes it a top pick for fuel conscious consumers.

The 2012 Hyundai Accent is tapping into the consumer demand for high-content, fuel efficient cars. It gives great fuel economy without having to pay for a high fuel economy package.

Accent’s class-leading standard fuel economy is yet another example of Hyundai’s dedication to improving fuel efficiency and is the fourth nameplate in Hyundai’s lineup delivering 40 mpg on the highway. It’s no wonder Kelley Blue Book chose it as the number one back-to-school car.

Hyundai Motor America is Celebrating 25 Years of Sales

Hyundai's first vehicle in the US went on sale 25 years ago in 1986. The subcompact car Excel, was imported into the United States from Korea and was nominated as “Best Product #10” by Fortune Magazine. Due to the Excel’s affordability and awards it was a huge success. Today Hyundai has an extensive line-up of award winning cars, SUVs, and crossovers and produces a lot of them here in the US.

Since Hyundai entered the US market over 6.6 million vehicles have been bought and today more than 4.3 million vehicles are on the roads. In 2010 Hyundai sold 538,000 vehicles and was ranked the 6th best-selling brand in the country. To date Hyundai has invested a total of $1.7 billion in the US and over 400,000 Sonatas, Elantras, and Santa Fes have rolled off assembly lines in America.

Hyundai has been built on earning the trust of their customers and since 1999 they have offered the best warranty in the industry; a 10-year, 100,000 mile power train warranty and a 5-year, 60,000-mile vehicle warranty.

“As far as we’ve come since 1986, we still feel in the early stages…it’s authentically Hyundai to question the status quo and pursue our own vision of how things should be in order to best serve our customer,” says John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America.

2011 Car of the Year

The North American Car of the Year award is one of the most coveted awards in the auto industry. This year’s winners will be announced at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 11, 2011.

The three finalists in the car category are, not surprisingly, the Chevrolet Volt extended-range hybrid, the all-electric Nissan Leaf and the Hyundai Sonata as a conventional or hybrid sedan. In the truck segment the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are the three finalists. The cars were chosen from a sample of 27 and the trucks from 14.

The cars were judged by a panel of 49 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. The cars were judged on innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value. The winners of 2010 were the Ford Transit Connect in the truck category and the Ford Fusion Hybrid for the car segment.
